THE SIDEWALK: MY JOURNEY AROUND THE BLOCK
Project 2 • No. 24
Walking Around My Childhood
I have lived in this area my whole life.
I roam the sidewalks reminiscing about my childhood—
revisiting the joy in an autumn leaf, a tiny acorn, the watercolor bark of
a sycamore, and the challenge of a hopscotch board (I was quite good back in my day).
Sometimes the joy of a balloon would slip through my fingers, forever lost,

Sometimes the joy of a balloon would slip through my fingers, forever lost,
but I always knew I could seek comfort at home.
Some people gamble seeking wealth, but my riches are right here.
Funny, I walked by that sidewalk hopscoth just the other day. It seemed lonely in the shade of the overgrown bushes going up the side.
