Distorted Reality

Are distortions of original art original art in themselves?

I have been struggling to find the right form for my One Liner sketches. I've drawn, transferred, and painted, but I find my photographs of the drawings, transfers, and paintings more interesting. Distortions of reality. But where does that leave me?

  1. I think it would still count as original art, in my opinion... Hmm... Like if I paint a cactus then I consider that an original piece but after I photograph the painting and transfer it onto my computer and play around with it a little in Illustrator, I guess I would consider that another original piece... right? hmm.. this also reminds me of this whole new blue & black/white & gold dress trend going around on social media lately - to me it looks blue & black at all times but others see differently! What is real lol!

  2. Stephanie, thank you for your thoughtful response. I'm still pondering the question myself. I think the answer will unfold over time as I work through this Oneliner project. I'm working toward having a show which may include drawings, paintings, AND photos of the drawings and paintings. Why not?!

  5. I love these so much. Would love to see the OGs too, but the fact that you've captured just the way the light hits the canvas and bounces off the paint at that particular moment in time is art all of its own <3
